Mark Gabbert is Associate Professor of History at the University of Manitoba, where he teaches Modern World History. He is a former Head of the Department of History and a past president of the University of Manitoba Faculty Association where he currently serves as a grievance officer. He has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Association of University Teachers, served two terms as a member of the CAUT Academic Freedom and Tenure Committee and has been a member of two CAUT ad hoc committees to investigate possible violations of academic freedom. He is particularly interested in the relationship between academic freedom and the right to freedom of expression.
