Scott Campbell Named Winner of the 2025 Peter H. Bryce Prize

The Centre for Free Expression (CFE) announced today that Scott Campbell, a former Business Development Executive in Opportunities New Brunswick’s Investment Attraction Department is the 2025 winner of the Peter Bryce Prize for Whistleblowing

The Peter Bryce Prize is awarded annually to recognize and honour an individual who serves the greater good by courageously speaking up about wrongdoing or abuses of public trust.

In announcing this year’s winner, CFE Director James L. Turk, said that Mr. Campbell had been fired from his position at Opportunities New Brunswick for speaking out about wrongdoing – specifically for filing a complaint alleging that the executives to whom he reported directed him to falsify information to be presented to the provincial Cabinet. The information in question was intended to convince the Cabinet to provide provincial funding to a business that, presumably, would not otherwise have been eligible.

The Prize, along with a $10,000 cash award made possible by the generosity of the Zita and Mark Bernstein Family Foundation, will be presented at a virtual ceremony on Tuesday, April 22, at 7 pm. EDT.

The presentation ceremony details can be viewed here.
