Andrea Cecchetto Joins CFE Board
Andrea Cecchetto, Chair of the Canadian Federation of Library Associations, is joining the Centre for Free Expression’s (CFE) Advisory Board.
“With the growing demands for censorship being faced by public and school libraries across Canada, Andrea’s knowledge and experience will help guide CFE’s work in defending and promoting intellectual freedom and assisting libraries in this difficult time,” said James L. Turk, Director of the Centre for Free Expression.
Andrea is Director of Service Excellence at Markham Public Library where she is responsible for public service, facilities management, and operations, as well as organizational development, learning and growth, risk management, service design and implementation, research and evaluation, and digital literacy.
She has an MLIS from the University of Western Ontario, Masters Certification in Organizational Development and Change Management from York University's Schulich School of Business, and a Masters of Public Administration from Queens University.
Andrea is a past president of the Ontario Library Association and a member of the North American Regional Division of the International Federation of Library Associations.
The Centre for Free Expression at Toronto Metropolitan University works to ensure that the rights to freedom of expression, informed civic engagement, individual self-development, and social justice are a reality for all through public education, advocacy, law reform, research, advisory services, policy analysis, assistance to courts, and organizational collaborations.
