David Hughes

David Hughes is  Executive Director and Managing Editor, Content CTV News, a position he moved into in September 2018.  Prior to that he was Executive Producer of CTV National News for more than seven years.   Working for CTV News for nearly three decades, David has taken on a variety of roles in the news division.  He spent more than a decade as Senior Producer of CTV National News with Lloyd Robertson.  Prior to that he worked on both foreign and domestic assignment desks, as a National Specials producer and a news writer.  He was on the original build team tasked with coming up with a broadcast, staffing and technical plan for CTV’s 24-hour all-news station – now known as CTV News Channel.  Before joining CTV News, he spent three years in Hamilton, Ontario in the newsroom of CHCH-TV.   Currently he oversees  the editorial content of CTV National News and management of network domestic and international bureaus.  The broadcast has won multiple awards during his stewardship, including several Canadian Screen Awards  for Best National Newscast.
