CFE releases new guide for whistleblower protection legislation and policies

The Centre for Free Expression (CFE) is publishing today a detailed guide for evaluating whistleblower protection legislation and policy.  Titled Evaluation Criteria for Protection of Whistleblowers. the guide is a tool for evaluating the adequacy of arrangements by governments and private sector organizations for enabling reporting on concerns about organizational wrongdoing or other information important for the public interest.

Where do federal parties stand on the public’s right to access to information: responses to RTIAC questionnaire

  Politicians and parties all claim to support openness and transparency, but how many really do? One test of commitment to open government is the parties’ election platforms. Fourteen organizations that promote transparency, united under the Right to Information Alliance Canada (RTIAC), sent questions on this vital issue to six parties fielding candidates in the Sept. 20 federal election. These organizations include journalists, environmentalists, Indigenous and human-rights groups.
