Shelagh Patterson joins CFE Advisory Board
The Centre for Free Expression is pleased to announce the newest member of its Advisory Board - Shelagh Patterson, Executive Director of the Ontario Library Association.
Shelagh began her library career at the CNIB Library and in 2008 moved to the OLA as Executive Director. Founded in 1900, the Ontario Library Association has more than 5,000 members who work in the school, public, academic, and special library sectors. It does important work in the promotion of intellectual freedom. Among its initiatives is the awarding of the Les Fowlie Intellectual Freedom Award to recognize the courage shown by individuals and organizations in defending the rights of library patrons to full access to information.
Shelagh is a founding member of the Canadian Federation of Library Associations/Fédération canadienne des associations de bibliothèques (CFLA-FCAB), Canada¹s national voice for libraries.
“We are honoured to have Shelagh become a member of the Centre for Free Expression’s Advisory Board, joining 13 other distinguished colleagues who help chart the work of our Centre,” said James L. Turk, Director of the CFE.
