Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu Joins CFE Board
Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu, Artistic Director of the Obsidian Theatre, Canada’s leading creator for Black Art, is joining the Centre for Free Expression’s (CFE) Advisory Board.
“Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu’s extensive experience as a theatre creator and director will be vital to the CFE as we expand our work to defend and promote artistic expression in Canada” said James L. Turk, Director of CFE.
Mumbi is the recipient of many awards including a Canadian Screen Award, a Dora Award, a Toronto Theatre Critics Award, a Pauline McGibbon Award and a Mallory Gilbert Protege Award. She is also Founder/Artistic Director for the experimental theatre company IFT (It’s A Freedom Thing Theatre) Theatre.
The Centre for Free Expression at Toronto Metropolitan University is a hub for public education, research and advocacy on free expression and the public’s right to know. Its work is undertaken in collaboration with academic and community-based organizations across Canada and internationally.
