Jordan Laffrenier Joins CFE Board
Award winning director, dramaturg, producer and educator, Jordan Laffrenier, is joining the Advisory Board of the Centre for Free Expression (CFE) at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Jordan is currently the Associate Artistic Director of Canadian Stage and Prime Mover Theatre Company and the former Artistic Producer of Theatre Sheridan and Program Co-ordinator of Theatre Sheridan.
“Jordan’s wide range of experience will be invaluable for CFE as we expand our engagement with issues of artistic and expressive freedom in the theatre and other artistic formats”, said James L. Turk, Director of the Centre for Free Expression.
Jordan has held many theatre development roles in New York City, Los Angeles and Toronto. Their direction has been seen in theatres across North America. The founding Artistic Director of Then They Fight Theatre, Jordan is also the founder of First Drafts, a new work development program for writers and students to develop and advance new musicals.
Jordan is an advocate of theatre that supports the community on and off stage and has partnered theatre productions directly with local charities such as The Mental Health Coalition in Hamilton and Vibe Arts where Jordan is an artist mentor.
The Centre for Free Expression at Toronto Metropolitan University is a hub for public education, research and advocacy on free expression and the public’s right to know. Its work is undertaken in collaboration with academic and community-based organizations across Canada and internationally.
