In the mid 1950's, the fear of Communism created an air of paranoia in the United States. Senator Joseph McCarthy exploited those fears and helped create a tyranny that included blacklists and Congressional hearings that destroyed people’s careers and lives. CBS reporter Edward R. Murrow and his producer, Fred W. Friendly decided to challenge McCarthy and expose him for the fear monger he was. Their actions took a great personal toll, but they stood by their convictions and helped end one of the darkest periods in American history.
“George Clooney is emerging as one of America's bravest, boldest filmmakers. And with this highly-charged political thriller, he's also emerging as one of its very best.”
-- David Edwards, Daily Mirror (UK)
“A film that will live on for years, because it bears a message about dissension, and the power of the press. A power that's faded.”
-- Felix Vasquez Jr., Cinema Crazed
“’Good Night, and Good Luck’ is sleek and straightforward, adding to its drama … It’s a terrific film.”
-- Paul Clinton, CNN
