CFE Film Series: Good Night, and Good Luck

In the mid 1950's, the fear of Communism created an air of paranoia in the United States. Senator Joseph McCarthy exploited those fears and helped create a tyranny that included blacklists and Congressional hearings that destroyed people’s careers and lives. CBS reporter Edward R. Murrow and his producer, Fred W. Friendly decided to challenge McCarthy and expose him for the fear monger he was. Their actions took a great personal toll, but they stood by their convictions and helped end one of the darkest periods in American history.
