Brenda McPhail joins CFE Board
Brenda McPhail, Acting Executive Director of the Master in Public Policy in Digital Society program at McMaster University, is joining the Centre for Free Expression Advisory Board.
As one of Canada’s leading experts on privacy law, surveillance, and biometric data, Dr. McPhail serves as a member of the Advisory Council for the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario and is a collaborator on several grant-funded research projects studying workplace surveillance applications, media governance and AI, facial recognition technology, privacy and consent, and virtual health care data privacy.
“We are delighted to have Brenda McPhail join the Centre for Free Expression Advisory Board. Her expertise will be invaluable to the continuing work of our Centre,” said James L. Turk, Director of CFE.
Previously, she served as Director of the Privacy, Technology and Surveillance Program at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, a position from which she is currently on leave.
